The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, stated this Thursday (23) that energy auctions remain postponed due to the uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. During a video conference, the minister said that the country is experiencing an unprecedented crisis and that there is no forecast for auctions to resume. “We are preparing for the resumption, we will resume the auctions, I just can’t say when they will resume,” said Albuquerque. However, the oil block auctions were maintained for the 2nd semester, as sector agents expressed interest in them being carried out. During the virtual meeting with the press, the minister also spoke about the Department's main issues in the field of electrical energy. He highlighted the reduction of pressure on low-income consumers, which aims to help these families and maintain the financial health of distributors. Albuquerque also commented on predictability due to uncertainties, respect for contracts and concluded by highlighting the relevance of establishing structuring policies with a view to post-pandemic recovery. Other topics Bento Albuquerque commented on the importance of energy security, dealt with ensuring the supply of oil and gas in the country and, also, on maintaining the functioning of the mining sector, guaranteeing the exploration, production and commercialization of minerals in Brazil.
