the residents of Cassowary, district of Puerto Carreño, in Colombia, will have 24-hour electricity thanks to a hybrid project – which integrates solar, batteries and diesel – which was installed in the village.
The system consists of a 372,6 kWp power plant, totalizing 810 solar panels of 460 W, in addition to two hybrid inverters of 150 kW and 154 batteries with a capacity of 1.182,72 kWh of ATESS Power, complemented by a diesel generator of 165 kVA.
The project was executed by IPSE (Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions) and by Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia, with a total investment of 61,9 billion Colombian pesos (approximately US$1,6 million).
“Through our partnership with IPSE, we have made the Casuarito Hybrid Power Plant viable entirely through public investment. This initiative allows us to extend energy services to 239 families in this non-interconnected area,” he said. Andrés Camacho, Minister of Energy.
“In fact, I feel immense joy and pride in seeing this project come to fruition. It has significantly improved our lives by 100%. Now, we have electricity 24 hours a day, and we hope that projects like this will continue to expand and develop even further in Casuarito”, highlighted one of the residents of the region.

Benefits for the community
The hybrid project has substantially improved the quality of life for Casuarito residents. Previously, electricity was limited to 8-16 hours a day. With the new system, residents now have uninterrupted power, facilitating several aspects of daily life and economic activities.
Providing energy in the community is expected to boost local businesses, improve educational facilities and enhance health services. “The project exemplifies ATESS's commitment to innovation, sustainability and community empowerment. We are proud to have played a role in transforming Casuarito into a model for renewable energy adoption and look forward to expanding our efforts to other regions in need,” the company emphasized.
