A Suntech Power announced that his Planeta Rica photovoltaic plant, of 26,7 MW, located in Colombia, was connected to the electrical network. The project is a joint venture with Dutch developer MPC Energy Solutions and French developer Akuo Energy – holding a 50% stake.
The enterprise, which has bifacial modules, will generate more than 48 GWh of electricity per year for the grid and is expected to generate around US$1,6 million in proportional revenues for the company in 2024.
According to the manufacturer, the model C72/Pmh+, 530-550 W, has 182 mm monocrystalline cells, adopts half cell and MBB (multi-busbar) technologies and has an efficiency of 21,3%. “Through the optimization of technology and cellular material, the decay caused by the PID phenomenon is reduced”, they highlighted.
Furthermore, they stated that the module design is tracker compatible, which offers a cost-effective solution for large power plants – with the bi-facility factor increasing yield by up to 25% and further reducing LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy). .
More about the project
The plant was built by the international engineering and construction group Mota-Egil. Bancolombia provided a project financing mechanism to finance the construction and operational phase of the project.
Planeta Rica will sell electricity under a 15-year PPA (power purchase and sale) contract to Celsia, one of the country's leading energy companies. The plant is expected to avoid the emission of more than 4 thousand tons of CO2 per year.
