The blackouts recorded in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region will be investigated by the AGU (Attorney General's Office) following a directive from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
A decree published this Friday (16) in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) established a special working group responsible for investigating episodes of power supply failures and the measures adopted by the concessionaire Enel.
AGU prosecutors will analyze all episodes considered relevant since 2023 involving interruptions in the energy distribution service in São Paulo. The working group will be officially constituted next Monday (19), and the final report should be completed within 30 days, with publication scheduled for February.
Federal agencies are called in to investigate failures at Enel SP.
The document should include a detailed description of the cases analyzed, an assessment of the measures taken by Enel, and an indication of any potential legal and institutional actions. This material will serve as input for the Presidency of the Republic and the relevant bodies in analyzing possible developments on this matter.
The investigation is taking place at a time of strong institutional pressure on the concessionaire, which is already facing questions regarding the continuation of the concession contract.
