The city of São Paulo (SP) now has an official representation of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). The Southeast Regional Inspection Management, the first structure of this type created by the regulatory body, was inaugurated this Wednesday (20).
The event was attended by authorities, representatives from the electricity sector, and guests connected to the areas of regulation and oversight. Canal Solar was also present, as a media outlet invited to cover the event.
The new unit is part of a strategy by ANEEL to expand its territorial presence and strengthen its regulatory oversight and monitoring activities in different regions of the country.
According to the Agency, decentralization aims to intensify dialogue with agents in the electricity sector and bring regulatory action closer to regional realities. In the coming months, the ANEEL It will also inaugurate the Northern Regional Inspection Management office in Manaus (AM), expanding the agency's institutional presence in the Northern Region.
Approval
The creation of the first two regional structures was approved during the Agency's 1st Ordinary Administrative Deliberative Circuit, held on January 19, 2026. This measure was made possible based on Law No. 15.269/2025, which authorized the establishment of regional administrative units by the Agency. ANEEL.
The expectation is that the new format will allow the regulatory body to expand its operational capacity in activities related to technical oversight, service monitoring, and institutional relations with distributors, transmission companies, generators, and other regulated entities.
Expansion
Although the ANEEL Although only the São Paulo and Manaus units have been confirmed at this initial stage, the initiative is seen within the sector as a potential seed for the future expansion of the Agency's regional structure to other areas of the country.
