The board of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved this Tuesday (18) the recommendation for the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) to extend, for another 30 years, the concession contracts of the distributors Neoenergia Elektro and CPFL Paulista.
Neoenergia Elektro, headquartered in Campinas (SP), serves approximately 3 million consumer units distributed across 223 municipalities in São Paulo and five in Mato Grosso do Sul.
CPFL Paulista is responsible for supplying electricity to approximately 5 million consumer units in 234 municipalities in the interior of São Paulo state.
According to the regulatory agency's decision, both concessionaires fully met the criteria required for renewal, including indicators of continuity of supply, economic and financial performance, as well as proof of fiscal, labor, and sectoral regularity.
The distributors also fulfilled the legal, technical-operational, and economic-financial requirements stipulated in Decree No. 12.068, of June 20, 2024, which establishes the conditions for the extension of concessions in the electricity sector.
This year, the ANEEL It has already approved the renewal of concessions for EDP Espírito Santo, EDP São Paulo, RGE, Energisa Mato Grosso do Sul, Energisa Sergipe, Equatorial Pará, Equatorial Maranhão, Neoenergia Pernambuco, CPFL Piratininga, Enel Rio, and Light.
According to the Agency, two distributors have already signed the new contracts with the MME: Neoenergia Pernambuco and EDP Espírito Santo.
ANEEL approved all concession renewals for distributors analyzed in 2025.
