Advances in photovoltaic panel technology allow greater access to solar energy

The solar energy sector has been developing faster and faster over the years, reinventing the way electrical energy is produced and consumed. Its growth in the last decade has been remarkable and full of new records over the years.

To give you an idea, in 2010 the global market was small, with just over 39 Gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity. Today, solar energy production capacity in the world has been established at 512,3 GW and is expected to reach 2,3 TW in 2025, according to a projection from the Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2022-2026.

Advances in the sector

There are many innovations in the area and have generated a reduction in the cost of this type of energy, making it increasingly accessible to consumers. Advances in technology have also generated a significant increase in the efficiency of equipment, such as solar panels.

Approximately two years ago, the panels available on the market had powers ranging between 360 W and 405 W. Currently the market already offers panels with a power of 665 W. These are panels with a larger light collection area and great efficiency.

With them, the amount of fixing structure is reduced, as is construction time, as fewer panels are needed to generate the same amount of energy. The maintenance cost over time is also lower, since washing the panels is charged per “plate”.

A photovoltaic energy generator has a long useful life due to the technology of its components. The inverters have a useful life of around 20 years and the panels have a useful life of around 30 years.

The manufacturers' warranty is also high. There are brands that offer up to a 20-year warranty for their inverters and panel brands that offer up to a 15-year manufacturing warranty and a 25-year performance warranty.

The tendency is for the market to only work with high-power panels, which have higher operating current levels. Therefore, it is important that the inverters are also modern, so that they can withstand the current levels of high-power panels.

Sou Energy has been operating in the photovoltaic energy sector for six years and works with the latest on the market, including high-quality equipment and recognized brands. In August this year, the company presented the new products that are part of its product portfolio at Intersolar South America 2022.

Among the latest generation products are panels with a power of 665 W, representing the most powerful on the market today.

In short, these panels provide greater installation speed and a lower level of intervention on roofs, as fewer holes and fasteners are required.
