Four hydroelectric plants of the cemig (Minas Gerais Energy Company) were purchased by Amber Energy, from J&F group, at the auction held this Thursday (05) at B3. The winning bid was for R$52 million.
The Marmelos plants in Juiz de Fora (MG); Martins, in Uberlândia (MG); Sinceridade, in Manhuaçu (MG); and the Machado Mineiro Small Hydroelectric Plant in Águas Vermelhas (MG) were auctioned. Together, the four plants have 14,8 MW.
For Reynaldo Passanezi Filho, president of cemig, the resources allow for the largest investment in the distributor's history, in addition to fulfilling the commitment to be the driver of investment in Minas Gerais.
“This year, we are breaking the record for the delivery of substations. By the end of the year, more than 30 substations and 1.000 kilometers of distribution lines will have been delivered,” adds Passanezi.

With these acquisitions, Âmbar now has 43 power generation units, with a total capacity of 4,1 GW. The company is the second largest private natural gas power generator in Brazil in terms of installed capacity, and operates hydroelectric, solar, biomass, coal and biogas units.
According to Marcelo Zanatta, president of Âmbar Energia, the company continues to invest in expanding its asset portfolio, aligning its actions with its strategy of increasing diversification of energy generation sources.
“This movement aims to strengthen Brazil’s energy security and also play a significant role in the transition to a more sustainable energy matrix,” concludes Zanatta.
