Genneia, a renewable energy company in Argentina, has signed a US$185 million financing agreement with IDB Invest, the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank. The transaction is part of a larger, expandable structure of up to US$320 million, with maturities ranging from 7 to 15 years.
According to the company, the investment will be allocated to the development of new energy generation and storage assets, as well as strategic studies on electricity transmission linked to the critical mineral supply chain.
According to Genneia, the initiative aims to strengthen energy infrastructure and support industrial growth in key regions of the country.
Among the projects included are four solar parks: San Rafael (180 MW) and San Juan Sur (129 MW), located in the Cuyo region, and the Lincoln and Junín projects, both with a capacity of 20 MW, in Buenos Aires.
The funding also includes the installation of a storage system, located in Buenos Aires. Genneia He pointed out that the technology will allow for greater stability of the electrical grid, especially during peak demand periods.
According to the companies, the agreement strengthens the expansion of Argentina's renewable energy matrix and contributes to the development of energy solutions linked to the production of critical minerals, considered strategic for the global energy transition.
