A group of 12 public schools from Pernambuco, Bahia, the Federal District, and Rio Grande do Norte was awarded for socio-environmental education initiatives and will receive donations of solar energy systems capable of reducing electricity costs by up to 90%, according to the consumption profile of each unit.
The initiative is promoted by Neoenergia, using resources from the PEE (Energy Efficiency Program) of [Company Name]. ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). The announcement of the institutions selected was made this Wednesday (5), during a ceremony in Brasília (DF).
According to Solange Ribeiro, vice-president of Neoenergia, the objective is to strengthen socio-environmental education in the public school systems of the four participating states and to bring students closer to practices related to sustainability.
“By bringing solar energy to these schools, we want to contribute to more sustainable and inspiring learning environments, where children and teenagers can experience, in practice, concepts such as energy efficiency, environmental preservation, and addressing climate change,” she said.
In addition to the installation of photovoltaic systems, the program includes the production of educational materials, audiovisual content, educational guides, courses, and training paths to support educators in addressing topics such as climate change, energy efficiency, sustainable water management, waste reuse, and environmental preservation.
The initiative also includes training for school administrators, pedagogical coordinators, and teachers, encouraging the development of interdisciplinary projects focused on sustainability and connected to the realities of the communities served.
