AXIA Energia has completed the modernization project of the Marimbondo Substation (SP), one of the strategic points for the flow of energy generated in the Southeast and for the operation of the SIN (National Interconnected System). The project, divided into nine stages, received an investment of R$ 34,3 million.
The works included the replacement of eight 500 kV disconnectors and three 500 kV surge arresters, as well as three 345 kV disconnectors, one circuit breaker, and six surge arresters. During the execution period, 238 jobs were created.
Juliana de Cássia Moraes de Santana, executive manager of Transmission Engineering Project Implementation at the company, states that the project is part of an ongoing movement to modernize AXIA's infrastructure.
“The completion of this project reinforces AXIA Energia’s commitment to providing efficient electricity throughout the country. The company continues to invest in modernizing its assets with a focus on communities, the environment, and safety,” he stated.
According to AXIA, the RAP (Annual Permitted Revenue) related to the modernization of equipment should be defined in the next adjustment cycle for transmission companies.
Alongside this delivery, the company is developing a second modernization project at the same substation, valued at R$ 9,6 million.
Inaugurated in 1975, the Marimbondo Hydroelectric Power Plant, located on the Rio Grande River between São Paulo and Minas Gerais, is one of the most important sources of power generation for both states.
The complex was a pioneer in the use of 500 kV transmission lines in Brazil and Latin America, a milestone that consolidated its relevance in the expansion of the National Interconnected System (SIN). The plant has eight generating units of 18 MW each.
