Axia Energia (formerly Eletrobras) has signed a letter of intent with the government of Espírito Santo to study the implementation of a green hydrogen plant in the state.
According to the company, the project aims to contribute to the company becoming Net Zero by 2030, as well as boosting economic development and the diffusion of local technology.
“The development of green hydrogen is a strategic initiative capable of accelerating the decarbonization of industries, fostering innovation, strengthening regional competitiveness, and benefiting society as a whole,” said Virginia Fernandes Feitosa, Director of Large Client Relations at Axia Energia.
Currently, the company has already signed six memoranda of understanding with companies and state governments to expand studies on green hydrogen in different regions of the country.
Investments in the electricity sector
In addition to initiatives focused on green hydrogen, Axia Energia has expanded its investments in the national electricity sector, focusing on modernization and reliability of infrastructure.
This week, the company announced the completion of the replacement of the compensation bank on the Tucuruí C1 transmission line, at the Marabá substation (PA). The equipment received an investment of R$ 70 million.
At the end of November, the company finalized the project of modernization of the Marimbondo Substation (SP), considered one of the strategic points for the flow of energy generated in the Southeast region and for the operation of the SIN (National Interconnected System). The project, divided into nine stages, received an investment of R$ 34,3 million.
Back in November, Axia Energia announced that Implementation of two photovoltaic power plants integrated with energy storage systems in Brazilian Army units. located in Tefé and São Gabriel da Cachoeira, in Amazonas.
The project, developed in partnership with Baterias Moura, foresees investments of R$ 9,5 million, financed by the Legal Amazon Development Account. Currently, these locations depend on diesel-powered thermoelectric plants, a model considered expensive and highly polluting.
The company also confirmed its focus on developing battery energy storage projectsThis indicates that the company has been studying the technology for quite some time, analyzing the various possibilities and modalities.
