Azul Linhas Aéreas has expanded its operations in the Free Energy Market by migrating two more consumer units through a partnership with Prime Energy.
With this, the company now has four units served under this modality, which allows the purchase of energy directly from generators and trading companies.
Furthermore, another 15 Azul units will be served by the energy subscription model this semester, in which consumers receive credits for energy produced by renewable power plants.
According to the company, the initiative aims to increase operational efficiency, improve cost predictability, and strengthen its brand sustainability strategy in the market.
The partnership began in 2023.
Azul's partnership with Prime Energy began in 2023, with the migration of two of the company's units located in Campinas (SP) to the Free Energy Market.
Now, the project has been expanded to include two new units in Belo Horizonte (MG) in the Free Energy Market and another 15 facilities served by subscription energy in the states of Bahia, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Mato Grosso and São Paulo.
According to Azul, the partnership has already generated savings of R$ 3 million in the first two units migrated to the ACL (Free Contracting Environment) over the last 36 months.
Estimated savings
With the inclusion of the new operations, the expectation is that the accumulated savings of the units served in the Free Energy Market will approach R$ 5 million. In the 15 units covered by the energy subscription model, the projection is for annual cost reductions between R$ 95 and R$ 117.
André Gonçalves da Cruz, technical vice-president of Azul, states that, with operations present in different regions of the country, the company seeks energy solutions that increase operational efficiency, bring more predictability to cost management, and meet the specific needs of each unit.
“The results achieved since the beginning of the partnership reinforce the importance of expanding this model. In addition to operational gains, initiatives like this contribute to strengthening an increasingly sustainable and competitive aviation sector.”
