Energy futures prices traded on BBCE ended last week higher, reversing the downward trend seen in recent weeks. Contracts supplying the Southeast (SE) submarket for July and August led both the price increase and the trading volume during the period.
According to data from BBCE, responsible for a third of the negotiations in the free market, the contract for delivery in July registered the biggest increase of the week, advancing 12,40%. The price went from R$ 155,25/MWh to R$ 174,50/MWh. The August contract accumulated a 5,77% increase, ending the period quoted at R$ 203,60/MWh.
In addition to short-term contracts, products with longer maturities also showed recovery. The contract for the third quarter of 2026 rose 5,03%, closing at R$ 205,69/MWh. Following that were products for October, with a 2,49% increase to R$ 292,17/MWh, and for the second half of 2026, which advanced 1,99%, reaching R$ 247,57/MWh.
The move marks a change of direction in prices traded on the energy futures market, following a period of declines influenced by more favorable expectations for the supply of electricity and the improvement in hydrological conditions observed in recent months.
In the overall analysis of negotiations, annual contracts for 2027 accounted for the largest volume of energy and financial transactions on the platform. Meanwhile, products from the SE harvest also ended the week in positive territory, reinforcing the perception of a recovery in future prices.
The increase in contract prices comes at a time when the market is paying close attention to factors such as the evolution of reservoir storage, climate projections for the second half of the year, and prospects for growth in energy demand.
