BNDES approves R$486,8 million in financing for Sigma Lithium

O BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved financing worth R$486,7 million for the Sigma Lithium, one of the biggest world's lithium producers, implement your second plant greentech carbon neutral in Brazil.

O financing term will be 192 months. Based on the current construction schedule, the company plans to complete construction and commissioning in 2025. With the second plant greentech, Sigma expects to increase its production from 270 thousand tons per year to 520 thousand tons per year.

The unit will not use harmful chemicals in the process, will not have the formation of tailings dams (stacking is only dry), will not use potable water (water will be reused) and energy used will provide clean source (hydro, wind and solar).

“The granting of this development loan by BNDES crowns more than 10 years of relentless execution by our team at Sigma Lithium to build our global leadership in the industrial production of carbon-neutral, environmentally sustainable and socially traceable lithium materials,” commented Ana Cabra-Gardner, CEO and Co-Chairman of the Board of Sigma Lithium.

“Our unparalleled operational success has contributed significantly to attracting investment in Brazil from other global lithium companies, creating one of the fastest growing producing territories in the world. Having BNDES as a lender represents the support of the Brazilian government for Sigma Lithium’s industrial expansion plans in the Jequitinhonha Valley,” he added.

According to her, Sigma's work has transformed Brazil into the global lithium producing zone with the best practices of productive, social inclusion and environmental traceability in the global lithium beneficiation industry. inputs for lithium batteries for electric cars.
