1st digital mobile substation opens in Brazil

A first digital mobile substation in the country was opened by Energisa Rondônia in partnership with WEG the city of Cacoal (RO). With an investment of R $ million 13,5, has the 25MVA capacity and meet 40 thousand homes.

With 66,5 tonnes , 15 meters long and about 3 meters wide, the equipment will come into operation during the replacement of a transformer that will increase the municipality’s energy supply capacity.

“The machinery performs functions in different configurations, serving various substations of the electricity network in the state of Rondônia. This ensures safe and fast service in accordance with the State’s particular needs”, explains Welton Sirqueira Rodrigues, Maintenance coordinator at Energisa.

According to Energisa, with the installation, it will be possible restore power quickly and safely in emergency cases, increase energy availability in the system and help with scheduled maintenance in power transformers and substations.

The new mobile substation was equipped with the most modern technology available. With two converter units (Merging Units), guarantee the scanning security e data sharing with other components of the protection and control system.

The system has equipment and sensors that collect and store data, which are transformed into information that helps to protect, control, monitor e automate operations by real-time analytics.
