The first issue of the 2025 Electric Energy Transmission Concession Plan (POTEE) is now available, which guides future concessions for the expansion of the country's transmission system.

Prepared based on studies by EPE (Energy Research Company) and ONS (National Electric System Operator), the plan, launched by MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), has a six-year horizon and lists works considered essential to ensure greater reliability and safety in serving the consumer market.

One of the most important points is the Brazil-Bolivia international interconnection (Stage I). The EPE study proposes the construction of two new 500 kV transmission lines at the Rio Brilhante and Chapadão substations in Mato Grosso do Sul, with a total capacity of 3.600 MVA, in addition to 860 kilometers of 500 kV transmission lines.

The measure seeks to expand the connection margin of new generation sources to the SIN (National Interconnected System) and reinforce energy integration between the two countries.

Another relevant front involves structural reinforcements in the Acre-Rondônia system, considered vital in light of the challenges posed by climate change. The plan proposes interventions that practically double the energy import and export capacity of these states, strengthening resilience and ensuring greater reliability of local supply.

In the Center-West, in addition to the interconnection with Bolivia, the creation of the Matrinchã 2 substation (230/138 kV) and 291 km of new transmission lines in Goias.

The Southeast region is receiving attention in two priority studies. The first, in Minas Gerais, proposes a new 500 kV transmission line between Santos Dumont 2 and Leopoldina 2, eliminating overloading on critical facilities in the Belo Horizonte and Mantiqueira regions.

The second foresees reinforcement in the heart of the city of São Paulo, with the installation of the Santana substation (500/345 kV), aimed at meeting the growing demand of the data center sector and large consumers.

In the South region, expansions were approved based on several studies covering Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. Highlights include the construction of the Iguaçu substation (525/230 kV), Boa Vista do Buricá 2 (230/69 kV), and Barigui 2, as well as new yards in Curitiba Oeste and Uberaba. 525 kV and 230 kV transmission lines are also planned to enhance reliability and expand service capacity in strategic areas.

With POTEE 2025 approved, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) will begin the bidding processes and authorizations necessary to make the projects viable.
