The advancement of solar energy and the need to increase the flexibility of the electrical system place energy storage among the main topics of discussion in the Brazilian sector. At the same time, the country is preparing to move forward in contracting power and defining rules for the participation of batteries in the electricity market.
This scenario will be one of the focuses of the Brazil-China International Forum on Photovoltaic Solar Energy and Storage 2026, which will be held on August 24, from 13:30 pm to 20 pm, at the Radisson Hotel Paulista, in São Paulo (SP).
The meeting will bring together representatives from the Brazilian and Chinese markets to discuss the development of the BESS (battery energy storage systems) market, prospects for the photovoltaic sector, investments, financing, technical standards, and new technologies.
The program also includes discussions on the Reserved Capacity Auction in the form of Power (LRCAP), commercial and industrial applications of energy storage, and the integration between solar energy, batteries, and charging infrastructure.
The forum has the support of ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association), ABSAE (Brazilian Association of Energy Storage Solutions), CPIA (China Photovoltaic Industry Association) and CNESA (China Energy Storage Alliance). The Canal Solar is the official media partner of the event.

Experiences from Brazil and China
One of the objectives of the meeting will be to discuss the experiences of both countries in the development of solar energy and storage.
China has consolidated a broad industrial chain linked to both technologies and occupies a prominent position in equipment manufacturing and project implementation. In Brazil, the expansion of photovoltaic generation and regulatory discussions on energy storage are opening up opportunities for new applications of batteries in the electrical system.
Among the participants are Vinicius Suppion, from ABSOLAR, which will address the challenges and perspectives of the Brazilian photovoltaic market, and Fabio Monteiro Lima, executive director of ABSAE, who will present the energy storage scenario in the country.
The Chinese experience will be discussed by Jialin Ru, director of the International Cooperation Department of the CPIA, and Liang Tang, vice-president of CNESA.
BESS, regulation and investments
The Brazilian energy storage market will also be the topic of a presentation by Charles Vieira de Mello, technical consultant at EPE (Energy Research Company), who will discuss the electricity market and LRCAP.
Milene Cleto da Fonseca, a researcher and technologist at Inmetro, will address issues related to the safety, reliability, and competitiveness of energy storage, while Youru Tan, an analyst at BloombergNEF, will present an analysis of the global solar energy and battery market.
The program will also include presentations on technologies and applications, as well as two panels. One will be dedicated to the residential solar energy market and hybrid systems. The other will discuss the challenges of investments in storage for C&I (commercial and industrial) applications.
Discussions are also planned on leasing and financial leasing models for BESS, energy cooperation between Brazil and China, and technologies applied to the photovoltaic sector.

The Brazil-China International Forum on Solar Photovoltaic Energy and Storage 2026 will be held on August 24th, from 1:30 PM to 8:00 PM, in the Europa Room of the Radisson Hotel Paulista, located at Alameda Santos, 85, Jardins, in São Paulo (SP).
