Data from SECEX (Secretariat of Foreign Trade) point out that around 8,35% of products imported from China transfer service in the first eight months of this year came from the acquisition of photovoltaic modules.
From January to August, the arrival of Chinese equipment to Brazil accumulated around US $ 39,74 billion – an increase of 35,1% compared to the same period last year and 63,8% compared to 2019.
Of this amount, around US$3,55 billion came from the purchase of electrical machines, appliances and materials, of which 95% (more than U$$ 3,3 billion) were the result – solely and exclusively – of acquisition of photovoltaic modules.
O volume of US$ 3,55 billion represents more than double of the US$ 1,43 billion recorded in the same period last year e five times more that the US$700 million 2019.
According to AEB (Brazilian Foreign Trade Association), the increase is related to the fact that Chinese suppliers are taking advantage of the expansion of renewable energy in Brazil at the same time that they need to diversify their own energy matrix.
Currently, China has as one of its main commitments to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. To this end, it has intensified the promotion of renewable energy, especially solar sources, within a plan that promotes the development of technologies in the area and enables diversification in exporting products.
Solar energy on the rise
Data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), point out that, in less than two years, the country practically doubled its operational power: from 10 GW in April 2021 to more than 19 GW in September of this year.
The growth observed in Brazil is also occurring in other countries, such as the United States, which has seen record hiring this year, and China, the only major supplier of solar panels in the world.
From January to August, Chinese installed capacity, for example, grew 27,2% compared to the same period in 2021, according to information from the state agency National Energy Administration.
Last week, data released by IRENA (International Energy Agency) showed that solar energy was the renewable source with the highest number of hires made last year worldwide, with 4,2 million new jobs or 33 % of the total of 12,7 million hires.
