Brazil imported around 20,19 GW of photovoltaic modules between January and November 2024, according to data released by greener, in a live broadcast held this Tuesday (28).

Even though the data is still incomplete, last year went down in history as the year that recorded the largest volume of solar panels imported by the country, surpassing the record of 2022 – when 17,8 GW was imported.

Greener's forecast is that, with the increase in December's data, the year 2024 will surpass the mark of 22 GW sold abroad in the national market.

Of the total of 20,19 GW, approximately 76% (15,35 GW) were allocated to the DG market (distributed generation) and 24% (4,84 GW) for centralized generation plants.

The survey also identified a reduction in the FOB (Free on Board) price of photovoltaic modules imported by Brazil: from US$ 0,1600/Wp to US$ 0,0912 in the last twelve months, between November 2023 and 2024.

Many of these modules ended up being used in projects aimed at residential class, which grew again in 2024 and accounted for 54% of the power added by solar DG (distributed generation) throughout the year.

According to Greener, last year also saw an increase in total power sold, which could suggest growth in the number of unit sales and/or in the sale of larger systems.

Integrators

Regarding integrators, the partial results of the GD Survey presented in the live broadcast highlight which areas received the most investment from companies in 2024, with emphasis on strengthening the technical installation team (37%), the marketing team (21%) and the sales team (18%).

At the time of the survey, more than 55% of those interviewed by Greener said they had difficulties with credit approval by banks or problems related to high interest rates. The company's study with integrators is open until Friday (31) and interested parties can participate by clicking here

When asked about what their companies' main focuses will be for 2025, most integrators said they intend to develop differentiated solutions, diversify their sales channels (digital, partnerships, franchises) and expand their areas of operation to new markets beyond the solar source.

Batteries

The study released by Greener also identified a drop of around 31% in the average price of lithium batteries in 2024 compared to 2022, with the decrease in the value of cells being the main factor.

The mapping also shows that the cost of this technology on the market is currently around 86% lower than in 2013.

For this reason, Greener found that there was an increase in the percentage of integrators that started offering photovoltaic systems with batteries. In 2023, this rate was 49%, while in 2024 it reached 60%.
