A solar energy surpassed, this Thursday (06), the mark of 32 GW of operational capacity No. Brazil, according to data recorded by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Altogether, the market national photovoltaic counts on exact 22,369 GW coming of GD systems (distributed generation) and others 9,637 GW Starting at GC plants (centralized generation).

It is a volume of power twice as large as in relation to same period last year, when there was 16 GW in operation.

According to the IEA (International Energy Agency), Brazil installed a record 9,9 GW of solar energy in 2022, almost doubling the result recorded in 2021.

The country ranked fourth in the world in terms of capacity addition, behind China, the United States and India.

Distributed generation

Currently, the Brazil has more than 2 million photovoltaic systems installed in the distributed micro and minigeneration segment. Of this total, more than 371 thousand were implemented in 2023According to ANEEL.

Furthermore, of the 5.570 municipalities cataloged by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), more than 99% (5.538 cities) have at least one solar energy system installed in this modality.

In the last six days, four states reached symbolic milestones in the solar DG segment.

Centralized generation

The GC segment, in addition to having 9,637 GW of power in operation, also has other 116,3 GW expected to come into operation.

Of this amount, 6,55 GW are from projects with construction started and another 109,8 GW from projects with construction not yet started.
