Brazil has accumulated 38 GW in requests for access permits for data centers, says Silveira.

O Brasil já acumula 38 GW em pedidos de pareceres de acesso para projetos de data centers e reúne condições estratégicas para se consolidar como um dos principais destinos globais para investimentos no setor. A afirmação foi feita pelo ministro de Minas e Energia, Alexandre Silveira, nesta segunda-feira (1º), durante o Fórum Jurídico de Lisboa, em Portugal.

Segundo o ministro, 7,1 GW desses projetos já representam investimentos estimados em R$ 159 bilhões nos próximos anos. “No ambiente de investimentos do setor elétrico, quando falamos em data centers não falamos apenas em tecnologia. Falamos principalmente de energia, porque energia é o que sustenta a possibilidade de nós avançarmos em investimentos em data centers no Brasil”, afirmou.

Durante o evento, Silveira afirmou ainda que o Brasil já reúne hpje condições favoráveis para atrair novos investimentos em data centers, inteligência artificial e infraestrutura digital, citando a elevada participação de fontes renováveis na matriz elétrica, a capacidade de expansão do sistema e a segurança energética do país.

Pedidos para data centers cresceram 330% em um ano

De acordo com o MME (Ministério de Minas e Energia), os pedidos de conexão para novos projetos de data centers cresceram 330% entre 2024 e 2025. Em dezembro do ano passado, o volume de demanda solicitado era de 28,5 GW para empreendimentos previstos até 2038.

Durante o evento, Silveira afirmou que grandes empresas internacionais têm procurado o Brasil como alternativa para expandir suas operações diante do atual cenário geopolítico global. “Eu tenho na minha agenda, no mínimo, três ou quatro grandes companhias mundiais de data center me procurando”, declarou.

Para viabilizar essa nova demanda, o Governo Federal informou que apostará em medidas como a ampliação da infraestrutura de transmissão, a realização de leilões de energia e a implementação da PNAST (Política Nacional de Acesso ao Sistema de Transmissão), criada para organizar a conexão de grandes consumidores ao SIN (Sistema Interligado Nacional).

Silveira defende aprovação do Redata

Durante sua visita a Portugal, o ministro também voltou a defender a aprovação do Redata – proposta em tramitação no Congresso Nacional que busca criar um regime especial para atrair investimentos em data centers, com contrapartidas relacionadas à sustentabilidade, inovação tecnológica e uso de energia limpa.

O ministro afirmou ainda que o Brasil não pode desperdiçar a oportunidade de transformar sua vantagem competitiva em desenvolvimento econômico, geração de empregos qualificados, inovação tecnológica e fortalecimento da infraestrutura digital do país.
