ANEEL confirms R$ 8,59 million in penalties in the electricity sector.

A ANEEL The Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) upheld fines totaling R$ 8,59 million after rejecting appeals filed by Amazonas Energia, the Suape II thermoelectric plant in Pernambuco, and the São Carlos small hydroelectric plant in Santa Catarina.

The decision was taken by the agency's board of directors at a meeting held this Tuesday (20).

Amazonas Energia was penalized R$ 2,23 million for transferring funds to Oliveira Energia without prior authorization from... ANEELOliveira Energia took control of the distributor in 2018, during the company's privatization process.

The Suape II thermoelectric power plant, located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex in the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE), was also fined R$ 4,92 million.

According to the regulatory agency, the penalty stems from failures in the management, maintenance, and operation of the plant, which resulted in poor operational performance.

The fine was initially issued by ARPE (Regulatory Agency for Delegated Public Services of the State of Pernambuco) and later confirmed by... ANEEL.

In the case of the São Carlos Small Hydroelectric Plant, located in Lacerdópolis (SC), the company São Carlos Energia S/A was fined R$ 1,43 million due to delays in the project's implementation schedule.
