The blackouts caused by the gales and severe storms that hit the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo led the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) to demand more rigorous action from the... ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) in the oversight of distributors responsible for service in these regions.
In a letter sent on Thursday (30) to the Director-General of the Agency, Sandoval Feitosa, Minister Alexandre Silveira requested that the ANEEL Follow and evaluate the power supply interruptions recorded on Wednesday (29), which left nearly 2 million consumer units without power in the two states.
In Rio de Janeiro, the storm caused power outages for approximately 1,9 million customers, affecting consumers served by Light and Enel Rio. In São Paulo, strong winds and heavy rain interrupted service to more than 70 customer units within Enel São Paulo's concession area.
