C&A announced last Wednesday (10) the construction of two photovoltaic plants with an installed capacity of 2,5 MW, totaling 5,5 GW per year, in Brazil.
According to the company, the photovoltaic plants will guarantee the supply of 11 company stores in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília for ten years.
The installation and operation of the plants will be carried out by Faro Energy, a company specializing in clean energy projects. To build the plants, approximately 7 photovoltaic panels will be used.
According to C&A, the expectation is that solar plants will help save R$20 million on electricity bills over the next decade.
“We were pioneers in using the free energy market, which allows the purchase of energy from renewable sources, to supply our operations”, says Ciro Neto, director of development and expansion at C&A in Brazil.
According to Neto, in 2020, C&A has already enabled 200 stores to receive solar energy, in addition to investing R$250 million in renewable energy projects throughout Brazil. The company's goal is to reach 800 million invested by 2023.
