CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization) is now operating with a new governance configuration, marked by the separation between strategic decision-making bodies and the executive structure, a move that brings the institution closer to more modern corporate governance practices.

Last Thursday (12), during the agents' assembly, the eight new board members and their respective alternates were elected. Under the new statute, the federal government has the right to appoint four members to the Board of Directors, including the president.

The other four representatives are appointed by the market, covering the categories of generation, commercialization, distribution, and consumption. In addition to the board, the institutional structure will include six executive directors.

The current president of the Council, Alexandre Ramos, was reappointed to the position at the suggestion of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira. Also elected at the suggestion of the government were Arthur Valério (former Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy) and Ricardo Tilli (former director of...). ANEEL) and businessman Carlos Eduardo Zarzur (technical director of Orion Transmissão).

By sectoral categories, the assembly elected Ítalo Freitas (Generation), Vice President of Commercialization at Axia Energia; Gustavo Souza Checcucci (Consumption), Director of Energy and Industrial Decarbonization at Braskem; Olavo Bilac Pinto Neto (Distribution), former federal deputy; and Rodrigo Ferreira (Commercialization), Executive President of the Brazilian Association of Energy Traders.

The restructuring of CCEE's governance was defined by the federal government with the publication of... Decree No. 11.835 / 2023The regulation expanded the Chamber's responsibilities, allowing it to operate in new markets and in energy certification activities. The approval of the new statute took almost two years and underwent several revisions requested by the National Electric Energy Agency before being finalized.

According to CCEE, the changes position the institution to "operate with even greater robustness in a scenario of expansion of the free energy market and regulatory development, contributing to a more competitive, innovative and secure environment for all agents in the sector."

The former board members – Gerusa Côrtes, Eduardo Rossi, Ricardo Simabuku, and Vital Neto – will now join the organization's executive board. Ramos will hold the positions of board member and president for six months. See the institution's new organizational chart below:
