Cemig (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais) has launched a call for proposals that foresees investments of up to R$ 50 million to encourage the implementation of solar energy systems associated with batteries on rural properties in Minas Gerais.
Named Cemig Agro Solar 24h, the initiative is carried out through the distributor's PEE (Energy Efficiency Program), regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), and emerges as an opportunity for associations and specialized companies to develop projects focused on agribusiness.
One of the program's distinguishing features is its focus on combining photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage systems (BESS) – a technology that allows the storage of energy produced during the day for use during periods of lower solar generation or in situations of power grid interruptions.
“Battery energy storage is one of the most promising technologies in the energy transition. By combining solar generation with storage systems, we can offer rural producers greater autonomy, operational security, and energy efficiency. This is especially important for activities that cannot suffer interruptions, such as irrigation, milk production, poultry farming, pig farming, and agro-industries,” stated Thiago Batista, Energy Efficiency Manager at Cemig.
Bonuses of up to 60% for photovoltaic systems and batteries.
According to the distributor, the ultimate goal of the program is to offer eligible rural customers a bonus of at least 60% for the purchase of photovoltaic and energy storage systems.
The expectation is that the initiative will contribute to accelerating the adoption of energy storage technologies in the field, a segment that has been gaining relevance in the face of increasing demand for energy reliability and the expansion of distributed solar generation in rural areas.
How to participate?
Proposals and required documentation, as specified in the call for proposals, may be submitted until June 26, 2026. The selection process is expected to conclude on August 31, 2026.
