Centralized solar generation grows 50% in the first half of January

Centralized solar power generation recorded a notable increase of 50,6% in the first half of January compared to the same period last year. In numbers, production reached 2.853 MWmed this year, compared to 1.895 MWmed last year.

In the same period, hydroelectric generation grew by 5,5%, totaling 53.653 MWmed, while wind energy experienced a significant increase of 25%, reaching 6.834 MWmed. On the other hand, thermoelectric production suffered a drop of 28,3%, totaling 6.834 MWmed.

The remarkable performance of self-producers stands out, whose generation increased by a significant 101,6%, totaling 7.381 MWmed this year, compared to the 3.362 MWmed recorded in January 2023.

Overall, the generation in SIN (National Interconnected System) in the first fortnight of the year reached the mark of 70.816 MWmed, reflecting an increase of 3,8%. The data comes from the most recent biweekly InfoMercado bulletin CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber).

Energy consumption

In relation to energy consumption, the bulletin reveals a total of 67.088 MWmed in the SIN, representing a growth of 4,9%. Of this amount, 43.205 MWmed were allocated to comply with the ACR (Regulated Contracting Environment), while 23.883 MWmed were allocated to the ACL (Free Contracting Environment). Consumption in ACR experienced an increase of 6,1%, while in ACL there was an increase of 2,7%.
