Colombia recently celebrated the inauguration of Pétalo del Norte I, the country's first solar project developed according to international standards, in La Esperanza, Norte de Santander.
With an installed capacity of 19,9 MW and equipped with LONGi Hi-MO 7 photovoltaic modules, the initiative represents a significant advance in the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the country, aiming for cleaner and more efficient electricity generation.
The Pétalo del Norte I project aims to produce more than 43 GWh of clean energy per year, enough to supply more than 32 people and prevent the emission of approximately 13 tons of CO₂ annually.
According to LONGi, during the construction phase, it generated 270 direct jobs, with 64% local participation and 30% women.
This project is the first in Latin America to be put into operation with the main support of CFM (Climate Fund Managers) and the backing of the European Union.
Furthermore, Erco Energía participates as a developer, local partner, and contractor, while Andina Solar acts as the promoting company responsible for management and administration.
Pétalo del Norte I will operate under a 15-year PPA signed with an independent trader, guaranteeing stability for its long-term operation.
