The first photovoltaic plant of Copel (Companhia Paranaense de Energia), built in the municipality of Bandeirantes (PR), is receiving the final part of the structures and solar panels. The distribution line, which will connect the generating parks to the company's grid, is also being installed. According to Copel, the system will have 5,36 MW of power. The first phase is expected to come into operation in 2020.
“We are satisfied with the progress of the project and are proud to implement this new product, which is now available to commercial and industrial customers who wish to save energy,” said Ricardo Rothstein, superintendent of Copel's Business Development Department.
In the model offered by Copel, the consumer does not need to make an initial investment. The company installs and operates the DG (distributed generation) units and the customer signs a lease agreement for the plant, obtaining a discount on their energy bill. The parks in Bandeirantes will operate under a distributed mini-generation regime, in which the energy generated is used to offset electricity consumption, generating a discount on the consumer's bill.
The project, which will cover shared generation and remote self-consumption, was implemented in partnership with Sistechne, the energy projects arm of Intertechne Participações. Copel is available to develop other similar projects, initially for commercial and industrial clients. Companies interested in offsetting their energy consumption through distributed generation can contact Copel through website.
