A EDP opened this Wednesday (6) a GD solar complex (distributed generation) in Tremembé (SP). With a total installed capacity of 3,82 MWp, the project consists of three solar plants of approximately 1,27 MWp each and included an investment of R$19,1 million.
The construction of the complex is part of the EDP's growth strategy in solar energy in Brazil, focusing on the distributed generation segment. The announcement was made at an event attended by the CEO of EDP Brasil, João Marques da Cruz, and the vice-governor of the state of São Paulo, Felício Ramuth.

“We want to provide the decarbonization of the economy and we are focused on making clean energy more accessible and, thus, contributing to making the economy and businesses of small, medium and large companies more sustainable. With solar plants in the state of SP, we are enabling the energy transition in the region”, he highlighted.
According to the company, the complex has a tracker and occupies an area of 10 hectares, with 5.832 solar panels using bifacial technology. The energy generated at the plants is already contracted and should serve small and medium-sized companies in the Paraíba Valley.
The project is in line with EDP's strategy, which expects to reach 530 MWp of installed capacity in distributed solar generation and investments of R$2,3 billion by 2026.
Currently, the company has 87 distributed generation solar plants in the country, 48 of which are already in operation. In the state of São Paulo alone, there are 30 plants, with a total investment of R$490 million, 13 of which are in operation and 17 under construction.
subscription solar energy
eyeing the potential of the subscription solar energy market, EDP created Solar Digital. According to the company, the objective is to expand and simplify access to renewable energy in Brazil through the construction of new plants and the offering of services, mainly for small and medium-sized companies.
According to EDP, companies that have a monthly electricity bill starting at R$300 can join and the expected savings is 10%.
The program is now available to companies in the states of Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. There is no membership fee, contract loyalty or maintenance cost.
“When subscribing to the Digital Solar service, the customer will receive two invoices: that from EDP, with the solar energy consumed; and that of the local distributor, with the mandatory costs (availability, public lighting, non-compensable PIS/COFINS and ICMS taxes), in addition to the energy surplus, if it has consumed more kW than the contracted solar volume”, informed EDP .
