Registrations for the Networks of the Future module of Energy StarterApplications are open until August 23. Startups and scaleups interested in participating can apply through the program's website. The initiative is part of EDP's global innovation program focused on the development and adoption of technologies for the energy transition.
This module marks the beginning of the 10th edition of the program and seeks solutions to increase the capacity and flexibility of electrical grids, improve the monitoring and control of operations, and accelerate the development of new infrastructure.
Also among the focuses are technologies aimed at increasing the resilience of networks in the face of extreme weather events. According to Mafalda Magro, Innovation Manager at EDP in South America, investments in transmission and distribution networks are among the company's strategic priorities.
“These are essential segments in the country today to support renewable energy generation, the energy transition, reliability in energy supply in the face of climate change, and the opening of the energy market. A challenging scenario, but one with many opportunities for us to work in partnership with startups,” he says.
How does the selection work?
Following an initial evaluation phase and an online pitch, the selected startups and scaleups will participate in a bootcamp at EDP's headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal, focused on developing pilot projects and evaluating business opportunities.
