A ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) and SIMA (Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment) signed, on Monday (5), a protocol of intentions for the development of solar energy in the State of São Paulo.
The partnership formalizes and expands cooperation between the São Paulo government and ABSOLAR, underway since 2013. With this, the entities will join forces in favor of the advancement of photovoltaic energy in state public buildings and the structuring of a development program for the sector in the state of São Paulo, which brings the sustainable source closer to the population and the productive and rural sectors.
“The State of São Paulo has immense potential to generate electricity from the sun with photovoltaic energy, whether in large plants or small and medium-sized systems, on roofs, facades or open areas. The solar source will be strategic to accelerate the attraction of investments, generation of jobs and income and reinvigorate the São Paulo economy”, said Marcos Penido, secretary of SIMA.
According to Penido, the photovoltaic source also contributes to strengthening the security and electrical autonomy of São Paulo, reducing the need to import electricity from other Brazilian states.
He also highlighted that it also promotes the postponement of investments in new generation plants and transmission lines, relief from system operation during daytime hours of high demand, reduction of losses through the SIN (National Interconnected System), among countless other benefits.
“Since 2012, the solar photovoltaic sector has brought 816,2 MW of installed capacity from this renewable source to São Paulo, adding more than R$3,5 billion in new investments and more than 24 thousand jobs. We want to multiply these numbers and make the sector a lever for the sustainable economic recovery of the state”, highlighted Ronaldo Koloszuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR.
Aiming to democratize access to photovoltaic solar energy, the entities will work to reduce the costs of solar generation, contributing to public management, the population and the growth of this renewable, sustainable and increasingly competitive source.
“In previous years, the government of São Paulo and ABSOLAR “They have implemented several actions that have had a major positive impact on society in São Paulo, such as tax improvements, new lines of financing for the market, improvements to environmental licensing for solar projects, implementation of photovoltaic technology in housing projects by CDHU-SP, among others. This protocol is another step forward, formalizing a long-standing joint effort in search of new positive results for the sector and the people of São Paulo,” added Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR.
The partnership has an initial term of 24 months and does not involve the transfer of financial resources between the parties.
Another partnership
SIMA and ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation) also signed a partnership with the aim of implementing programs, projects and activities through DG (distributed generation) of energy using renewable sources in the state of São Paulo.
“Distributed generation is a strategic opportunity to boost and boost the economy, providing income generation, quality local jobs and strengthening the state’s production chain”, stated Glaucio Attorre Penna, SIMA’s Undersecretary of Infrastructure.
