The inclusion of solar energy among the eligible home improvements in the Reforma Casa Brasil program, recently launched by Caixa Econômica Federal, has raised a question among consumers: is it possible to use FGTS (Severance Pay Guarantee Fund) resources to finance this? The answer, according to the institution itself, is no.
In contact with Canal SolarThe Caixa's press office explained that the resources for the Reforma Casa Brasil program are not linked to the FGTS (Brazilian employee severance fund), since the financing intended for lower-income families is carried out with resources from the Social Fund. The program only covers families with a monthly income of up to R$ 9.600.
For those with income above this limit, financing for solar energy installation is no longer available through the Reforma Casa Brasil program, and will now be done through Caixa's traditional credit lines, using funds from savings accounts.
In these conventional financing options, the use of FGTS (Brazilian employee severance fund) may be permitted, according to the general rules of each financing line. In other words, it is not possible to use it within the Reforma Casa Brasil program. Outside of this program, in Caixa's traditional financing lines, the consumer can check the possibility of using it according to the current criteria.
The program was recently launched.
The Casa Brasil Renovation Program was launched in November of this year and is part of a federal policy for social and housing improvement, offering credit lines aimed at renovating urban properties.
In addition to the installation of photovoltaic systems, the program allows the financing resources to be used for structural repairs, room expansions, electrical and plumbing upgrades, among other improvements.
Families with a gross monthly income of up to R$ 9.600 are eligible, with financing amounts varying according to the beneficiary's profile and the type of work. The funds can be used for both basic renovations and improvements focused on energy efficiency.
