Brazil installed more than 130 solar energy systems in the distributed generation (DG) segment in the first quarter of 2026, according to data from... ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Of that total, four municipalities surpassed the milestone of one thousand connections made during the period. Three of them are located in the Central-West region and one in the Northeast.

Cuiabá leads the ranking, with 1.767 systems installed, followed by Campo Grande (1.476). PetroLina (1.307) and Goiânia (1.069). Other municipalities also approached the mark, such as Rondonópolis (990) and Palmas (936).

By 2025, Brazil had installed more than 852 distributed solar generation systems. Cuiabá and Campo Grande also led the ranking that year, with more than 9,2 and 8,7 systems installed, respectively.

Yes, PetroLina and Goiânia, which currently occupy the third and fourth positions, finished last year in sixth and eighth place in the ranking of ANEELThe municipality in Pernambuco registered more than 6,2 systems, while the capital of Goiás surpassed 5,5 installations.

See the data for the leading cities.

Cuiabá (MT)

The capital of Mato Grosso recorded 1.767 distributed solar generation (DG) systems installed in the first quarter of 2026, leading the national ranking. Most of the installations are residential (1.688), followed by 51 commercial systems, 19 rural systems, and eight industrial systems.

Only one system is classified as minigeneration (above 75 kW), while the others are microgeneration. Regarding the type of generation, 1.568 are self-generation, 189 are remote self-consumption, and 10 are shared generation.

Campo Grande, MS)

Campo Grande ranks second, with 1.476 installed systems. Of the total, 1.379 are residential, 76 commercial, 12 rural, seven industrial, and one connected to the Public Sector.

As in Cuiabá, only one system is a mini-generation system. Regarding the types of systems, self-generation systems predominate (987), followed by remote self-consumption (320), according to the... ANEEL.

Petrolina (PE)

Yes, PetroLina appears in third position, with 1.307 installed systems. Most are residential (1.270), followed by 23 commercial, 13 rural and one industrial. No system exceeds 75 kW of power, indicating a total predominance of microgeneration.

Goiania (GO)

Goiânia closes the ranking, with 1.069 installed systems. Of these, 1.027 are residential, 38 commercial, and four rural. Just like in... PetroIn this area, there are no systems above 75 kW, and all installations are in the self-generation mode.
