In January, more than 725 MW of DG plants started operating

According to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), based on data from distributors, more than 65 thousand new DG (distributed generation) plants came into operation in January of this year, adding 725 MW to the installed capacity.

In total, 112 thousand consumer units benefited from micro and mini electricity generation.

The state of São Paulo led both in number of installed systems and in power, with 13.463 new plants, totaling 122 MW. Next, Goiás registered 76 MW, followed by Minas Gerais, with 75 MW.

In terms of number of installations, Minas Gerais came in second place, with 5.343 new plants, while Rio Grande do Sul came in third place, with 4.877 connected systems. Campo Grande (MS) was the city with the highest growth in the month, registering 1.112 new plants.

Distributed generation approaches 37 GW in Brazil

As of February 17, the country already had 3,28 million systems connected to the distribution grid, totaling 36,90 GW of installed capacity. In total, 4,91 million consumer units benefit from distributed generation.

The residential segment continues to lead the DG market:

Residential consumers:

  • 79,63% of plants in operation (2,6 million)
  • 69,01% of units using credits through MMGD (3,39 million)
  • 49,04% of installed capacity (18,10 GW)

Commercial sector:

  • 10,08% of plants in operation (330,12 thousand)
  • 18,53% of units using credits through MMGD (910,32 thousand)
  • 28,69% of installed capacity (10,59 GW)

Rural class:

  • 8,61% of plants in operation (281,99 thousand)
  • 9,97% of units using credits through MMGD (508,03 thousand)
  • 13,77% of installed capacity (5,08 GW)
