High prices slow energy trading in November.

Higher market prices reduced the volume of energy traded on the BBCE platform by 12,7% in November, compared to the same month in 2024. 18,9 TWh were traded this year, compared to 21,6 TWh the previous year.

Despite the drop in the physical amount, the financial value transacted was one of the highest ever recorded for the month: R$ 4,68 billion, a growth of 61,4% compared to November 2024. In total, 4.665 transactions were completed, an increase of 101,1% year-on-year.

According to BBCE, "this is one of the best performances in history for this month in terms of the number of transactions, reaching the second highest financial volume, behind only 2020, a period of market recovery during the pandemic."

According to Eduardo Rossetti, Executive Director of Sales, Products, Marketing and External Communication at BBCE, the period was marked by high prices and greater volatility, which boosted trading activity.

With rising prices and the expectation of chuvas In the coming months, contracts will once again exceed the R$200/MWh mark, approaching R$300/MWh.

Energy expiring in December 2025 (+22,82%) led trading in November, followed by January 2026 (+22,50%), the first quarter of 2026 (+23,64%), and the annual product for delivery in 2027 (+13,53%). The 2028 contract also registered significant variation and volume (+12,72%).
