Newave Energia has completed the assembly of the towers for the 230 kV transmission line at the Barro Alto Photovoltaic Complex in Goiás, marking an important milestone in the project's timeline.
According to the company, the phase was completed on schedule and without accidents, reinforcing the efficiency of the execution process and the company's focus on safety and technical rigor.
Developed by Newave Energia, the project has investments of up to R$1,4 billion, coming from Gerdau and Newave Capital funds. With 452 MWp of installed capacity, Barro Alto will be the largest solar power plant in Goiás when completed, and all the energy produced will be sold on the Free Energy Market, serving companies of different sizes.
Gerdau, Brazil's largest steel producer, is an investment partner in Newave Energia, holding a 40% stake, and is also an anchor consumer, purchasing the same proportion of energy generated by the company through a self-production scheme.
Expansion of renewable energy generation
The Barro Alto project will be the company's second solar power plant. The first, located in Arinos (MG), ranked first in the national energy efficiency ranking in three periods of 2024 and 2025, among more than 500 plants evaluated.
With commercial operation scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, the project reinforces Newave Energia's role in developing infrastructure aligned with ESG practices, consolidating its position in advancing renewable energy generation in Brazil.
