Norwegian company DNV has signed an agreement to acquire Automa Power & Utilities, a Brazilian company specializing in monitoring and control solutions for power generation, transmission, and distribution assets. According to a statement released by the companies, the transaction has been submitted to CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) for review.
Currently, Automa is responsible for monitoring and controlling approximately 60 GW of renewable energy assets. For the Brazilian company, the transaction paves the way for global expansion, leveraging its operations beyond the domestic market.
From DNV's perspective, the agreement represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen its capabilities in digital solutions and expand its presence in the electricity sector, incorporating technical expertise developed in Brazil.
“The energy transition is moving forward, with digitalization as a key element. If approved, by combining Automa’s advanced digital solutions with DNV’s global expertise in the sector, we will be creating digital capabilities that will help customers manage this complexity and unlock new growth opportunities in the energy industry,” said Remi Eriksen, CEO of DNV.
Operating in over 100 countries, DNV offers services ranging from independent certification and testing to specialized consulting and digital solutions focused on the energy sector and critical infrastructure.
Founded nearly two decades ago, Automa has played a significant role in the development of the renewable energy sector in Brazil, focusing on asset monitoring and operation. Throughout this period, the company has delivered over a thousand projects and currently supports the management of approximately 60 GW of installed capacity.
