Norsk Renewables has put up for sale a portfolio of nine solar power plants in operation in Brazil, all classified as GD1 (Distributed Generation 1) and located in Minas Gerais. According to the company, the decision is part of a strategy to optimize capital allocation without hindering its plans for expanding renewable energy generation in the country.
The plants have a combined installed capacity of 27,7 MW and are part of the distributed generation model. The transaction is being brokered by the consulting firm CELA (Clean Energy Latin America), which released the statement on Monday (24).
The assets, classified as GD 1, are located in Minas Gerais and have long-term energy credit trading contracts signed with Órigo Energia. Eight plants are already operating commercially, while the ninth project is expected to come online in the coming months.
The assets are connected under the GD1 regime, a category that includes projects with access requests filed up to January 2023. This classification ensures significant regulatory benefits, such as full compensation for the use of Fio B until 2045.
