O government of Piaui announced, on Friday (29), that it signed a the partnership with the German group Solar Outdoor Media to install a photovoltaic plant in the municipality of Buriti dos Lopes aiming to production de ammonia and hydrogen green.

The expectation is that the artworks of plant implementation are initiated in 2024 and employ more than 1,8 professionals from the region. Initially, the plant will have installed power of 940 MW, which could reach up to 3 GW in the future. 

Whole generated energy by solar plant will be sent to a factory in the city of Parnaíba, so that the fuel production and the respective export of inputs to Germany.

According to Governor Rafael Fonteles, the the project is a big step towards energy transition in Piauí. “A very important billion-dollar project for our state, which seeks to be a world leader in the production of green hydrogen and, from that, bring development to Piauí,” he said. 

Luciano Guido, CEO of Solar Outdoor Media, in turn, he expressed his satisfaction with the progress in negotiations with the Piauí government and reinforced the German group's commitment to contributing to the state's development through clean energy and sustainable technologies.
