Two employees of an energy concessionaire were arrested by the Civil Police last Thursday (16), in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), suspected of demanding bribes to avoid applying fines to city residents. The action was conducted by Derf (Specialized Robbery and Theft Police Station).

According to the corporation, the officers, aged 26 and 29, were approached while attempting to finalize an irregular agreement with one of the victims. The case was classified as extortion, a crime that occurs when an individual demands undue advantage by virtue of their position.

The investigation began after a businessman from the city contacted the authorities reporting the employees' behavior. According to the testimony, the situation started on April 14th, when the suspects conducted an inspection at his establishment.

The following day, they returned to the site, reporting an alleged irregularity in the power connection and suggesting a "financial settlement" to avoid being fined. The amount requested was reportedly R$ 15.

The following day, the dealership employees returned to the establishment intending to finalize the negotiation. At that moment, they were surprised by the Derf agents during the approach to the victim.

The employees were taken to the police station, where they gave statements, and remain at the disposal of the Justice system. The name of the electricity company is not mentioned by the Civil Police.
