Altogether, it is estimated that the capacity from clean sources expected to increase 107 GW this year, reaching 440 GW – equivalent to the current installed energy capacity in countries such as Germany and Spain.
Of that amount, more than two thirds (70%) must come from solar energy, including distributed and centralized generation plants, due to the higher electricity prices (caused by the global energy crisis) e the policies government source incentive, mainly in Europe.
“Distributed photovoltaic applications are on track to account for half of the overall solar energy deployment this year, a volume greater than the total onshore wind energy deployment in the same period,” the report states.
In all, the IEA estimates that solar and wind capacity newly installed has already saved more than €100 billion for consumers in the European Union in the last two years, replacing fossil fuel generation (which would have become almost 10% more expensive in the same period).

According to executive director of the IEA, Fatih Birol, in the current world scenario it is increasingly evident that renewable energies are essential to ensure and make global supply safer and more accessible for everyone.
According to him, the majority of world governments have already realized this, are responding with efforts to implement them more quickly, but they still face some challenges.
“Policies need to adapt to changing market conditions, and we need to update and expand energy networks to ensure we can make the most of the enormous potential, particularly from solar and wind energy,” he argued.
