All municipalities in Roraima stayed without access to electricity this Thursday (1st) aafter the shutdown of power plants thermal generation that serve the state.

This is second blackout that reaches cities in the region in less than three months. In November last year, a power outage was also caused Because of problems involving local thermoelectric plants.

According to Roraima Energia, the company responsible for the energy distribution service, the new blackout started around 11:20 am. By the end of the afternoon, supply had still not returned to normal.

Since privatization in 2018, when it ceased to belong to Eletrobras, company is controlled by the Oliveira Energia Consortium and was renamed Roraima Energia.

Because it is not connected to the SIN (National Interconnected System), the state has its energy generated almost entirely by thermal plants.

Until March 2019, the Energy was partially supplied by Venezuela, which compensates for any local generation problems.

However, after that date the country stopped sending energy to the state, which forced Roraima to have to receive the supply power through four thermoelectric plants from Roraima Energia.

Currently, the state's thermal park is formed by the plants of: Monte Cristo, Jardim Floresta and Distrito, in Boa Vista (RA), and Novo Paraíso, in Caracaraí (RA).

The company reported that it still does not have information about the reason for the blackout, but confirmed that the problem occurred in the power generator.
