Representatives of the Government of the State of São Paulo met, last Tuesday (9), with the vice-minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Maria Tripodi, at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, in the capital of São Paulo.
O meeting, articulated by the Secretariat for International Business, aimed to strengthen the recommercial and business relations with the European country to carry out bilateral agreements towards the development of sectors such as renewable energy and sustainable transport.
Altogether, the State of São Paulo already has more than ten international cooperation memoranda for bilateral negotiations in the areas of clean energy production, biofuel, promotion of a low-carbon economy, in addition to measures against climate change.
Ao Canal Solar, São Paulo government informed that meeting with the Italian Vice Minister involved preliminary negotiations and that, for now, he prefers not to comment on early-stage negotiations.
“São Paulo has enormous opportunities in terms of the energy transition, which is a demand from the world population. Today we are living in a time of reconfiguration of value chains”, explained Lucas Ferraz, Secretary of International Business of the Government of São Paulo.
Currently, São Paulo holds almost 30% of all bilateral trade between Brazil and Italy, being one of the Brazilian states that imports the most from the country. Among the municipalities in São Paulo that export the most to Italy are: Jacareí, São Paulo, Lençóis Paulistas, Guarulhos and Franca.
“We must take advantage of this moment to strengthen our relationship between Italy and the State of São Paulo, and advance even further in building a promising future in our relationships”, said the Italian vice-minister.
