O Government of São Paulo, through InvestSP – state investment promotion agency, linked to the SDE (Secretariat of Economic Development – informed that it will support municipalities in São Paulo in the implementation of solar energy projects.
The Agency opened a public call protocols for accreditation of specialized companies in the preparation of projects and installation of photovoltaic plants.
Withsupport from these companies, State you can put available to municipal administrations studies and projects that support decision-making and the execution of services.
Beyond the environmental gains, the objective of the action aims to make the municipalities of São Paulo more attractive for investments and guarantee savings to public coffers, whether due to a reduction in the electricity bill or the search for the lowest cost for the project.
“A Solar energy is one of São Paulo’s strengths which, with stimulus, will generate new opportunities and growth”, said Jorge Lima, state secretary of Economic Development.
According to the State Government, the idea of initiative arose during technical meetings with municipal managers with Desenvolvimento SP – State development agency, which is a partner of InvestSP in the initiative – in which the challenges of city halls were raised in formulating projects and searching for financing.
“The focus is on the sustainable development of cities and the regions where they are located (…) Installing photovoltaic plants means reducing the energy bill, allowing the public manager to use these savings to invest in other priority areas of the municipality”, said Ricardo Brito , CEO of Desenvolvimento SP.
Currently, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), the Municipalities in São Paulo already have more than 5,3 GW of installed solar energy capacity, adding the distributed (4,45 GW) and centralized (0,93 GW) generation segments.
