With an installed capacity of 170 MW, the Sol do Agreste solar complex in Pernambuco is among the projects receiving new funding from the FDNE (Northeast Development Fund).
The release was approved this Thursday (7) by Sudene (Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast), which authorized a total investment of R$ 161,2 million for infrastructure and renewable energy projects in the Northeast.
Of that amount, R$ 120 million will be allocated to the photovoltaic complex located in the municipalities of São Caetano and Tacaimbó (PE). The project consists of six plants that are already in operation.
According to Sudene, the complex received total investments of R$ 327,3 million, combining resources from FDNE, its own capital, and financing from FNE (Constitutional Fund for Financing the Northeast).
With the project becoming operational, the expectation is to increase the share of solar energy in the Brazilian electricity matrix, reinforcing the expansion of renewable generation in the Northeast.
The superintendent of Sudene, Francisco Alexandre, highlighted that the FDNE continues to be one of the main long-term financing instruments aimed at structuring projects in the region.
"The FDNE is an essential instrument for enabling structuring projects that increase the competitiveness of the Northeast, generate jobs and reduce regional inequalities in a sustainable way," he stated.
In addition to the solar complex, the approved funds also cover the Transnordestina Railway, which will receive an additional R$ 41,2 million to continue construction. Both projects are part of the priority portfolio of the Federal Government's New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program).
