GreenYellow, a French multinational company with numerous renewable energy projects worldwide, announced its first power plant with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Brazil. The Huawei solution will be implemented in... Civil Towers, one of the most modern corporate buildings in Salvador (BA).
The contract, which is expected to reduce the project's electricity bill by 15% to 20%, was made possible through a partnership with 3P Energia, a company that develops and implements solutions for energy generation, transmission, distribution, and storage.
The system, with 215 kWh of storage and 108 kW of power, will be operated in the model load shiftThis involves storing energy during off-peak hours, when the tariff is lower, to use it during peak hours, when the cost of energy is higher.
“The main benefit lies in local energy arbitrage, which allows for better management of consumption during peak hours. In cities like Salvador, where peak-hour costs are high, the technology helps mitigate this impact in an intelligent, sustainable, and financially viable way,” explains Giovanni Milani, Head of BESS Sales at GreenYellow.
In Bahia, the tariff for using the distribution system (TUSD) can exceed R$ 3.200,00/MWh during peak hours — one of the highest in the country. With the operation under the model... load shiftThe system will store energy during periods when the tariff is lower, releasing it during peak demand hours. In addition to demand-controlled storage, the project includes 42 kWp of photovoltaic modules and a 30 kW AC inverter.
