The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) announced this Monday (2) the departure of the executive secretary Arthur Cerqueira Valério. The resignation was requested by the secretary himself, in a letter sent to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
Appointed on January 11, 2024, Valério played a central role in the management of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), being one of the main architects of the implementation of public policies conducted by the current administration.
As head of the Executive Secretariat, he played a role in the administrative, institutional, and technical coordination of the ministry. During his tenure, he participated in the modernization process of the legal framework for the electricity sector, focusing on opening the energy market and implementing programs such as Fuel of the Future, as well as legal frameworks for low-carbon hydrogen and offshore wind power.
In the field of infrastructure, he worked in the coordination of energy, power, and transmission auctions. He also participated in initiatives focused on energy inclusion and regional development, such as Sisol (Amazon Energy Program and the Isolated Systems Auction).

Stretched
Close to Minister Alexandre Silveira, Arthur Cerqueira had already expressed, in May 2025, his desire to leave the Ministry. However, due to a commitment to administrative continuity and the completion of previously agreed strategic agendas, he decided to remain in office until the beginning of this year.
After fulfilling the legal restrictions related to the quarantine period, Arthur Cerqueira Valério is expected to begin practicing law privately, continuing his professional career outside of public administration.
