The reservoirs of the SIN (National Interconnected System) ended the month of February with 59% of storage. The data were presented at the 316th meeting of the CMSE (Electric Sector Monitoring Committee), held last Wednesday (4) by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy).
Among the subsystems, water storage reached 57% in the Southeast/Central-West, 40% in the South, 72% in the Northeast, and 68% in the North. This scenario was favored by above-average rainfall in important basins, such as those of the Grande, Paranaíba, and São Francisco rivers.
Despite improved rainfall, the ENA (Natural Inflow Energy) recorded in February remained below the historical average in all subsystems.
The indices were 90% of the LTA (Long-Term Average) in the Southeast/Central-West, 52% in the South, 94% in the Northeast, and 62% in the North, resulting in 82% of the historical average for the entire SIN (National Interconnected System), according to data from the National System Operator (ONS).
For March, projections indicate distinct scenarios across regions. In the Southeast/Central-West, inflow may vary between 65% and 80% of the historical average, with storage levels estimated between 60,9% and 65,1%.
In the South, the situation is more restrictive, with inflows projected to be between 41% and 91% of the average, while storage levels could vary between 30,1% and 43,2%.
The Northeast presents a more favorable outlook, with inflows between 84% and 105% of the historical average and storage levels potentially reaching between 80,6% and 86,3%. In the North, the forecast indicates an inflow of 74% of the average, with reservoir levels between 88,7% and 93,2%.
The meeting also highlighted progress in the expansion of the electrical system. In February, 743 MW of new generation capacity, 347 km of transmission lines, and 1.125 MVA of transformation capacity came online.
Among the projects inaugurated are 581 MW of Assu Sol solar complex (RN), 96 MW of Draco Solar 2 and 3 plants (MG) and 58,5 MW from the Ventos de São Rafael 10 wind farm (RN).
In the short-term market, CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization) reported that the financial settlement for January 2026 totaled R$ 3,02 billion, of which R$ 2,7 billion were settled, while approximately R$ 325 million remained in default.
